ABOUT US
We are a day care centre for dogs with a 350sqm indoor and over 100sqm of outdoor space where your dog can safely and securely roam free. Our indoor space is divided into 4 main areas; a main arena with lots of apparatus and toys for dogs to play with; a small dog area where we can separate small breeds from larger dog breeds; and a chill-out area where your dog can go to get some rest in a homelike environment that is carpeted and has sofas and lots of dog beds. Our Large outdoor area is Astro Turfed allowing use in all weathers! In the summer we put out paddling pools and hose pipes so that your dog can enjoy water play and cool off. In Winter our centre is fully heated, with central heating throughout and underfloor heating in our main room! We also have several other small areas where we can separate your dog completely if they become ill or if playtime gets too much. Because we are large daycare centre, we only ask you to book in advance so that we can arrange to have a good ratio of staff to dogs but to also guarantee your space here at Doggies Friend. All of our day care staff love dogs and have dogs of their own. They are all trained in pet first aid and are equipped with the essential skills to apply First Aid to your Dog should the need arise. We are the only dog care provider of its kind in the Daventry area!
WHY DAYCARE?
We believe that dogs shouldn't be left alone for long periods. As group animals they need companionship. Most dogs will become anxious and stressed from being left alone and require constant stimulation and attention to be happy. At day care your dog will always have company and lots to do. Because we have a large centre, we always have lots of different dogs with us at any one time, so your dog will have the opportunity to socialise with lots of different breeds, allowing them to grow in confidence. By letting your dog mix with other dogs on a regular basis your dog will become more relaxed around other dogs. Intelligent breeds such as Border Collie & Poodle will get the stimulation they need throughout the day making them calmer. Energetic breeds such as Retrievers or Terriers will tire themselves out, allowing you to have a relaxing evening. Nervous dogs will get used to being around other dogs. Day Care is great if you need somewhere for your dog to go whilst you work, have the day out planned, have renovation work going on at home, if they can't manage a walk but you want them to have the stimulation and interaction they need or if you just want them to come and play and socialise with other dogs.

Owner of Doggies Friend
Sarah Shannon
Sarah started off as one of our Customers with her little dog Milo, then joined Doggies Friend team in 2017 on a self employed basis. Working part-time, covering sickness and holidays, Sarah mainly learnt a great extent on the job first hand from Derrick & Christine, learning to read Dog Language, Dog Behaviour and much more! Now 7 years on, Sarah is the proud Owners of Doggies Friend Daycare! We continue to offer a friendly and 'home from home' like daycare facility for your canine friends! Sarah has a passion for pooches as well as people and after running her own businesses previously, she has a wealth of experience in business and management. Continuing to hold a 5 Star Licence, Sarah is also Canine First Aid Trained & Human Emergency First Aid Trained.

Ella has been working as part of Doggies Friend part-time since June 2022. She is so eager to learn and improve her skills.
Ella is a natural with the dogs and has a great bond with them.

Hannah started work experience with us in early 2022. We enjoyed having her as part of our team so much we made it permanent in July 2022!
She has such a passion for dogs and really thrives being around them.
Hannah has completed her level 2 and level 3 in Animal welfare and managment as well as a dog walking qualification while at college.
Founders of Doggies Friends
Christine and Derrick
As Husband and Wife, Derrick & Chris set up Doggies Friend services back in 2012 from their home, taking in dogs for home boarding, daycare and providing a dog walking and pet sitting service. Due to the popularity of Daycare they chose to move to a larger space in 2016 meaning Doggies Friend Daventry Daycare centre was founded, providing No1 Daycare Centre in West Northamptonshire! Doggies Friend has continued to grow since and is now owned by Sarah who grew with Doggies Friend, shared the same passion as Derrick and Christine as it become one of the best daycare centres provided. We love looking after all your fur babies and doing it as a full-time job is a dream.
